Vale, the Member for Lyne.
NATIONALS MP Mark Vaile has broken his silence to vigorously defend his right to take on a private sector consultancy while still in Parliament
It was his intention to “try” to serve out his parliamentary term.
“I can’t forecast what circumstances may or may not come along,” Mr Vaile said.
“I possibly won’t recontest the next election.”
Mr Vaile expected his relationship with Servcorp would continue.
“As far as me being absent from my electorate – I’m a member of the Nationals, not the Liberal Party,” Mr Vaile said. He had informed the Nationals whip, which was all he felt he had to do.

Brendan looks forward to a bounce from the RBA announcement.
Federal Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson says today’s looming interest rate rise is more important than his new record opinion poll low.
Dr Nelson downplayed the poll as he arrived to stool chair a shadow cabal meeting in Sydney this morning.
“I’m firmly locked in the underdog status, but the most important thing today is that the Reserve Bank of Australia will be delivering the report card, for the next 30 days and beyond,” he said.
The Reserve Bank is today expected to hike its official interest rate 7.25 per cent, which will make the official interest rate 0.25 per cent more popular than Dr Nelson.
The Leader of the Opposition said that he was in the job for the long haul and was expecting further interest rate rises in the coming months and years which would put him well within striking distance of the Prime Minister’s rating of 73 per cent.

Blogging can help you feel less isolated, more connected to a community and more satisfied with your friendships, both online and face-to-face, new Australian research has found.
The research, from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, found after two months of regular blogging, people felt they had better social support and friendship networks than those who did not blog.
Researchers James Baker and Professor Susan Moore have written two papers investigating the psychological benefits of blogging, regularly updating personal web pages with information that invites others to comment.
The first, published in the latest issue of the journal CyberPsychology and Behaviour, compares the mental health of people intending to blog with that of people not planning to blog.
Moore says the researchers messaged 600 MySpace users personally and directed them to an online survey. A total of 134 completed the questionnaire – 84 intended to blog and 50 did not.
“We found potential bloggers were less satisfied with their friendships and they felt less socially integrated, they didn’t feel as much part of a community as the people who weren’t interested in blogging,” Ms Moore said.

WTF?! “Kevin Rudd’s most conspicuous candidate” ?!
No, sorry folks, the ABC doesn’t think that it’s (former) own Maxine McKew who stood against John Winston Howard.
No Maxine, who was attempting to be the first candidate to cut off the knackers of an incumbent Prime Minister since Stanley the Bruce who in 1929 lost the family jewels in the Liberal crown, apparently doesn’t warrant that title.
We look forward the the ABC’s new in depth political series, “Dancing with the Disendorsed Candidates”, hosted by a freshly head-hunted Richard Wilkins.

Deputy attack dawg?!
Christopher Pyne thinks it is his time to take the deputy’s job.
